The most common issue (which we make the most $$ off of) are the viruses that pretend they’re anti-viruses and try to get your credit card information. They always have some stupid name that’s a combination of “Virus”, “XP”, “Tool”, “Security”, “Malware”, etc…
So for those of you that are awesome enough to know me, here is a quick video showing you how to clean this garbage up yourself and not be forced to pay some depressed, alcoholic, on the verge of financial and mental meltdown, has growing tendencies of panic attacks, and can be seen praying for the sweet release of death, IT guy to clean up your computer. Or worse yet, a family member…
Notes:
· This is for XP. The rules for Vista and 7 are a slightly different.
· Forgot to mention to also do all the system updates you can…
· A new browser would help too – Google Chrome for instance.
· If you have questions, let me know in the comments.
· I finished this at 1a.m., so don’t complain about typos.
· Sometimes, Safe Mode with Networking won’t work. In that case try:
· · Removing hard drive and scanning in another computer.
· · Trying a “Windows Repair”
· · (advanced) Booting to Safe Mode with Command Prompt [no graphical user interface]
